Anchor Text Backlinks (eg: Forum SEO ) are the foundation of any website: they are the building blocks that will allow your website to rank highly for a specific keyword. However, you must be aware that only a certain type of backlink will count towards increasing your site's ranking in the Google search engine. These backlinks are called DoFollow Backlinks, or those that Google follows to give credit/ranking power to your website.
Now, you may be wondering: how do I decipher between a page that will allow DoFollow Backlinks and one that does not? This, of course, is very important to do when you are building backlinks because you won't want to waste your time building inbound links that Google does not consider important (NoFollow).
Well, there is a free tool that will help you do this very, very easily. It is called SEO for Firefox. Go here to download it now: SEO for Firefox Extension: Free SEO Toolbar Firefox Browser Plugin (Note: be sure to have Mozilla Firefox installed first)
Then, once it is installed on your Firefox browser, right click on the SEO icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen, and select "Highlight NoFollow Links". Now, when you want to leave your anchor text backlink on a web page, you will be able to check if the backlink that you leave will be DoFollow or NoFollow (highlighted in Red). If the links on that page are NoFollow, move on and find another source that allows DoFollow links.
